Discover a wetland
world beneath your feet! Watch a muskrat part mirror-smooth water in a V-shaped
ripple. Focus your camera on the antics of fuzzy ducklings dabbling in the
shallows. Listen to a sunset chorus of marsh birds, the eerie cries of rail
coot, grebe and bittern. From dawn to dusk, the entertainment never stops at
the Sackville Waterfowl Park, and the show is all for you.

Located at the head of the Bay of Fundy, Sackville
sits on the edge of the Tantramar Marshes, an area famed for its enormous
flocks of waterfowl and shorebirds. And right in the heart of Sackville, not
five minutes walk from downtown shops and restaurants, you can discover the
secrets of the marshes in the 55-acre Sackville Waterfowl Park, winner of
Environment Canada's National Award for Environmental Achievement. Over three
kilometers of trails, boardwalks and viewing platforms lead you, dry shod,
through stands of alder and cattail and across broad expanses of open water,
revealing the private lives of dozens of wetland wildlife species.
The Sackville
Waterfowl Park is a joint venture of the Town of Sackville and Ducks Unlimited
Canada. The cooperation of Mount Allison University, the Province of New
Brunswick (Dept. of Tourism, Recreation and Heritage; Dept. of Natural
Resources), the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment Canada, and many
corporate and individual supporters in the realization of this project is
gratefully acknowledged.

If you have only a few
minutes, the Sackville Waterfowl Park is a perfect spot to stretch your legs
and take a break from highway traffic. If time permits, enjoy a leisurely
2-hour stroll. Sit for a while on a trail side bench, or eat your lunch at a
secluded picnic table in this fascinating natural realm. Explore the park on
your own, or tour with a friendly, knowledgeable guide (summer months only).
